Small plate by Masaomi Yasunaga

Yasunaga was born in Osaka, Japan. He lives and works in Iga, Mie prefecture, Japan.

Yasunaga studied ceramics under Satoru Hoshino who was a second-generation proponent of the avant-garde group, Sodeisha. With the advanced spirit, Yasunaga creates non-functional sculptural work beyond just a ceramic but the same time, this artist is good at making a daily use pottery. His keen ability to make and break a balance between radical and traditional ideas, leads to his unique approach to materials. This vase shows a wild and soft presence which comes from his own processes toward to development of a form and glaze.
