Yakishime is one of the oldest Japanese ceramic traditions. Yakishime works are left unglazed to highlight the raw beauty of untouched clay. Noguchi’s yakishime shows the roughness, which you can feel natural materials and the elegance which comes from the artist’s elaborated technique.
Noguchi lives and works in Kagoshima prefecture. He moved to Tanegasima and started making a pottery in 1999. After 2006, he studied under Takashi Nakazato in Karatsu, Saga prefecture. His activity has expanded beyond Japan. He established firewood kilns in Northern Arizona, Denmark and Italy.l where he was welcomed as guests potter.
Because of the handmade nature of this product, each cup is unique and may vary in measurements and color.
